Transformación de las edificaciones patrimoniales en las áreas rurales del cantón Cuenca a partir de un análisis de la actualización de los inventarios de 1988

The canton Cuenca has a great wealth in terms of built heritage. Among the most important architectural typologies is traditional architecture, which is characterized by the use of materials such as earth, wood and tile. In its rural territories, a large part of this heritage can be observed, however, the accelerated and unplanned growth of these territories, added to the migration of its inhabitants, have made them temporary places of visit or simply a state of abandonment. In this context, the problem also focuses on the lack of knowledge and valuation of heritage assets, which, added to the false idea of ​​progress that the migration phenomenon has introduced - since it is associated with traditional architecture with a bad quality of life- has resulted in serious losses to the rural built heritage, this being replaced by constructions that are not related to the local natural and architectural context. In this context, in 2014 the National Institute of Cultural Heritage launched a project to update the inventory of real estate assets in the region, resulting in a quantitative, qualitative and comparative analysis of the inventory in 1988 and the current state, where a high percentage of loss of heritage values ​​was observed and with it, the need to spread to society about the importance of what the conservation of our cultural heritage represents. With the above, the objective of this research will be aimed at carrying out an analysis of the transformation of heritage buildings in rural areas as a product of the aforementioned problem, so that, from the public institutions managing the heritage, policies aimed at determining to the management and conservation of our built heritage.
