Resumen
Tourism is one of the most complex and sensitive socio-economic systems in the global economy, since at the same time as it promotes development, it also reflects important structural transformations, such as the acceleration of digitalization, the systemic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and the tensions caused by overtourism and issues of urban livability. The need for tourism regeneration goes beyond the limits of the conventional sustainable approach, which is based on a dominant tourism model that cannot respond simultaneously to the needs of competitiveness, territorial equity, and the regeneration of the natural and social systems on which it depends.
