N2 - Santa Ana of the Four Rivers of Cuenca- Ecuador was declared an UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. One of
the best strategies for conservation ofthe city’s cultural heritage is to diffusion its buildings with patrimonial characteristics, but:
- How does information related to buildings and structures with patrimonial
characteristics in our cities become known?
- Who consumes the information on our cultural heritage?
- What is the most effective graphic or physical tool for cultural diffusion and strengthening?
Starting from information already generated by different entities, the project PATRIMONIO 3D (HERITAGE 3D)
aims for the massive identification, selection, registry, documentation, analysis, narration, and diffusion of spatial
structures with traditional characteristics in the city of Cuenca, capable of being replicated in other heritage cities.
We hope to identify the most effective tool for this proposal in order to confront the systems of traditional representation and graphic expression with scale objects. In regards to strategy, the project has established three stages of execution with short, medium, and long term objectives.
First Stage- short term objective:
- Generate the graphic documentation of a cultural heritage structure through traditional systems of expression
and representation (the image – technical plans – text) to produce scale objects of high quality and low cost, capable of being accessible to all.
The present article presents the development, methodology, and conclusions of the first stage, the search for technologies, and production that generates scale models of high quality and low cost.
