Resumen

The adoption of electric vehicles has increased significantly in the transportation sector in recent years. As a result, this can have an impact on electrical distribution systems. Therefore, it is crucial to implement new energy methods and strategies to achieve sustainable transportation and mobility. In this chapter, some topics related to optimal energy management that integrate renewable sources and energy storage systems are addressed. The proposed methodology includes the active support of electric vehicles through bidirectional converters as a source and load to the electrical grid. The optimal management of these systems would allow for an economic benefit to consumers based on energy dispatch. In addition to considering a large-scale penetration of renewable sources and their integration with electric vehicles, the methodology proposes optimal schedules for vehicle-to-grid and grid-to-vehicle operation modes based on demand leveling. This allows for a better economic benefit to the consumer through vehicle-to-grid support. The results are presented with real data in a case study with microgrid integration.
