Resumen

This paper introduces the development of a solar atlas designed to evaluate both photovoltaic and thermal energy potentials in urban environments. The study focuses on Las Herrerias sector in Cuenca, Ecuador, detailing data inputs, software tools, and methodologies employed. It provides a granular view of solar radiation incidence by integrating geospatial data and highresolution orthophotos. Key formulas for estimating solar electric output and thermal efficiency are applied. The findings underscore the importance of utilizing localized data for renewable energy projects, highlighting areas with the highest potential for solar energy exploitation. Additionally, the integration of shadow mapping identifies optimal rooftops for solar panel installation.
