Resumen
Over time, various management models have been presented by organizations at the international level and aimed at improving management in higher education institutions; the same ones that must be studied and analyzed to determine their flexibility and versatility to adopt them in a given organization.
The objective of this paper is to propose an integral management model for the Public Universities of Zone 6 of Ecuador, according to their demands, since the current context of control and evaluation by state agencies and the desire for constant improvement make it essential .
For the development of this study an exploratory research was carried out in search of obtaining information about the management in the mentioned Universities through a battery of surveys related to the criteria of the model proposed by the European Foundation for Quality Management ( EFQM) but adapted to the educational area. Once this information was obtained, it was processed to present it in tables and graphs where one can appreciate the adequacy of the management systems of the institutions evaluated to the EFQM model in its different areas.
By virtue of the results obtained, it was possible to reach important conclusions and to the proposal that allows making recommendations tending to strengthen the strengths found, take advantage of opportunities for improvement and work to correct the weaknesses; through a comprehensive management model based on the EFQM model, which has Quality Management as its core and Process Management (GBP) as a basis.
