Resumen
The demolitions of the historical buildings in Cuenca are
related to the lack of collective consciousness about the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
For that reason, it is necessary to collect, organize and analyze information related to the
history of the demolitions in Cuenca and the role of the different institutions in charge of
heritage conservation. At the same time, it is relevant to include what the international
and local documents say about lost heritage buildings. The subject of this paper focuses on
the “La villa Roselena” located in “El Ejido de Cuenca” as a case study, which was
demolished in May 2008. This paper concludes with some reflections regarding the
conservation of monuments and the avoidance of the demolition of heritage buildings.
