Resumen
Neonatal asphyxia can be considered as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy that occurs with cerebral
palsy, seizures and learning disorders that affects brain development in its most serious forms,
causing significant perinatal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in developed and
underdeveloped countries. It is difficult to specify the origin, for example, an expulsive with a
circular cord causing fetal distress, as a risk preceptor. The objective of this study is to apply
nursing interventions as an integral part from an individualized, timely and progressive perspective
for their recovery in the neonatal intensive care unit. The method used for the development of the
clinical case is scientific research, with analytical description, correlational with scientific
bibliographic review and clinical practice guidelines; as well as the analysis and assessment of the
clinical history, indicating the biomedical information and the significant nursing practice of the
study. The present case was carried out in a General Hospital in Ecuador, in a newborn male
referred from a health center, admitted in an unstable clinical condition without endotracheal
intubation to the Neonatology service. The patient is followed up and a favorable condition is
observed. It is worth mentioning that the application of the Nursing Care Process is rooted in involving the mother of the newborn so that she participates in the continuous treatment that will
be provided during their hospital stay due to the neurological complications that the newborn
presents.
