Resumen

In Ecuador, the role of information for planning and territorial planning aimed at facilitating public management in the territories, conceptualized from the systemic complexity, has undergone a series of transformations in its generation - analysis - diffusion cycle. This article raises the understanding of the interactions between territorial information, planning and public management with emphasis on local territories, within the framework of the power-knowledge relationship, from new concepts and methods in the knowledge generation process Geospatial. The reflections generated around the information for planning and management, lead to the design and implementation of the "Virtual City and Territory-Lavcite Laboratory", which, using information and communication technologies, constitutes an instrumental modality for territorial planning in Ecuador
