Resumen

The green areas are a key element in the cities. However, in most Latin American cities like Cuenca of Ecuador, there is a large deficit in relation to the standard of 9m2 / inhabitant established by OMS. This indicator will continue to decline in the coming years. For this reason it is necessary to maintain, increase and improve private green areas in order to integrate them into the public space and allow solve the deficit exists. In the current ordinance of use and occupation of land in the city of Cuenca, it states that 50% of the front withdrawal must be the private contribution of green areas of the city. However, in some urban areas (Totoracocha) is not complied with this provision. Due to the high cost of urban land and the lack of management control that encourage increased use of the property outside the rules. Causing problems for both the city and the population. That is why it is necessary to make recommendations to improve the system of private provision of green areas for the benefit of environmental and landscape quality of the city.
