La construcción del paisaje urbano histórico desde una mirada interdisciplinar y ciudadana. El caso de Cuenca, Ecuador

The Historic Center of Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca was inscribed in 1999 on the World Heritage List (LPM) from Unesco. The absence of a Management Plan for said Historic Center has caused that in the last 15 years that have passed since its Declaration jeopardize outstanding universal values on which the criteria for their registration are based in the LPM. At the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Cuenca, a research project has been initiated whose objective is the application of the Recommendation of the Historic Urban Landscape (PUH) in the Cuenca city. This study is conceived as a new way of thinking about the protection and intervention of the Historic Center of Cuenca, while developing a proposal for the future urban development of the city of Cuenca based on its cultural values. Due to the conceptual breadth of the project and the complexity of the patrimonial issue in the urban area, it has been considered necessary the incorporation of disciplines such as the environment, economy, architecture, anthropology, archeology and geology. However, the great bet of this project is to convert the citizen the true protagonist of the investigation, since It is really ordinary Cuencanos who have of that first-hand information to develop a diagnosis and a proposal for intervention in the city.
