Resumen

Language development, disorders, and valid assessment practices for Ecuadorian, Spanish-speaking children remain significantly understudied.
Existing data on Spanish-speaking children largely derive from bilingual Spanish–English speakers in the United States, who represent a distinct
cultural and linguistic population from the one examined in the present study. The current research, initiated through the ASHA-PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) collaborative initiative in Ecuador, aims to address this gap and inform the development of training and assessment practices tailored to this population.
