Resumen

Family is the mainstay for humans. The level of adaption and cohesion that every family establishes in their household can indicate the type of functionality that predominates in it. Evaluating family functionality has become a fundamental factor in psychology; therefore, this investigation titled “Family Functionality of parents with adolescences brought up on the Circumflex Model by Olson” was conducted with the objective comprehend the level of family cohesion and adaptability. The study of short quantitative description used as an instrument the Scale of Evaluation and Family Cohesion FACES III by D. (Olson, Portner, & Lavee, 1985), which was applied to 150 parents of children brought from an educational institute of the city of Cuenca- Ecuador. The results determined that 58% of the families are chaotic in nature and 35 % are families that are separated, which determines in general aspects that 57 % of the total parents evaluated have a medium range of family functionality.
