Resumen

The organizational sustainability of agroecological associations represents a latent problem that limits the social and sustainable development of their communities, becoming a public concern that requires the permanent intervention of governmental and non-governmental institutions to strengthen their organizational structure. Thus, it is essential to analyze the organizational elements that contribute to the sustainability of agroecological associations in successful case studies in the province of Azuay. For this purpose, a participatory methodology is used, focused on participatory action-research. The results show that strategic planning is fundamental for the functioning of the associations. Organizational structure and culture develop their sense of belonging and integration. Resources are an essential element for administrative and productive management and, finally, marketing requires articulation with other marketing networks at the provincial level. In conclusion, organizational sustainability in these organizations is based specifically on strategic planning, organizational structure and culture, financial and material resources with which they work, and technological and marketing resources, in a process of permanent transformation.
