Resumen
This paper explores patterns on the vernacular architecture
through the study of
three main components, settlement, technology and function, as well as their relation to
the natural environment. The study is based on the case-of-study of vernacular
architecture located in the Azuay and Cañar, Ecuador, which altitude varies between
24mosl to 3806mosl. The purpose is to establish relevant aspects on the typological
study of this architecture, and at the same time, delineate new research lines in order to
build contemporary examples of sustainable architecture.
