Resumen
Given the uncertainty about the survival strategies of indigenous peoples in the current context of globalization, the results of a qualitative ethnographic study of Shuar Amazonian communities in Ecuador are presented. Their socioeconomic livelihood activities and the transitions of their ethno-ecological systems are analysed in relation to the external contexts that condition them. Bearers of a relevant biocultural memory about the Amazon, their combined strategies are addressed, as well as their practices towards an endogenous development that guarantees their particularity.
