Resumen

The solution of hyper-static elements like trusses and frames is difficult because of the solution of a large system of linear equations without computers; the significant progress of technology helped the development of numerical methods for the solution of real problems; the finite element method has been the mainstay in the solution of engineers problems and structural problems; the objective of this work was to apply the basics of the method in the solution of hyper static 2d trusses, using current and available software; in this way the results are graphical, the program gives forces, stresses, and deformations so it is possible to design any element. The conclusion of the work indicates that the method of finite can be used to solve simple problems and complex problems, and that is the most used method for structural engineers.
