Resumen

During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the high level of transmission, several other diseases lose notoriety. It undoubtedly affects the social visibility of HIV/AIDS and yet it is the pandemic that also demonstrates how vulnerable, to increased mortality rates, the HIV-positive population has become. In this context, an interdisciplinary team from the University of Cuenca established as a key research priority a survey to determine awareness level among students at this University about STDs/HIV/AIDS. The research proposal sought to address the lack of accurate data about the student population and its level of awareness about STDs/HIV/AIDS prevention and transmission. The survey’s result will provide the foundation, at a later stage, to design sensible and sustaining prevention and awareness education from a gender, integral, and differential framework. The methodology used in this diagnostic survey was based on a stratified probabilistic sample.
