Resumen

The study evaluates the quality of life related to health and the sociodemographic determinants of gender, age, socioeconomic stratum and educational level of the adult population of Cuenca-Ecuador. The methodology applies a cross-sectional study of a sample of 280 subjects, a questionnaire for sociodemographic determinants and the SF-36 Health Questionnaire were used to measure perceived health. The relationship between perceived health and sociodemographic determinants was verified by comparing the variable in the different subgroups. The results show women with a worse perceived health. The adult group obtained higher scores than the elderly group in all dimensions, except mental health. The mean scores of the group with primary studies were lower compared to those with secondary and higher studies. The educational level influences the perceived health and the socioeconomic level has an impact on the mental component and bodily pain.
