Resumen
Cervical cancer is a disease that can be eliminated through vaccination
against the human papillomavirus (HPV), timely detection using high-sen-
sitivity tests, and the monitoring/treatment of cervical pathologies. In Ecua-
dor, cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
Mortality from this cause is related to vaccination and screening coverage
at the national level, which still does not meet international standards. This
document compiles scientific evidence generated at the national and inter-
national levels, aimed at reducing mortality from this disease.
