Sdgnexus Network

The Sdgnexus Network (Sdgnn), Established 2020 During The First Phase Of The Exceed Program, Is Dedicated To Investigating The Complex Interactions Between The Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs) And Their Implications For Sustainable Development Pathways. Its Research Is Based On The Mutual Interaction - The Nexus - Between Sdgs. This Leads To Synergies But Also Trade-Offs Between Sdgs, Where Improving One Can Have A Negative Impact On Another. The Sdgnn Cooperates With A Diverse Network Of Partners: Seven Core Partner Universities From Latin America, Central Asia, And Germany Receive Direct Funding To Lead Research Initiatives. An Additional Eleven Collaborating Partners, Including Universities And Non-Academic Organizations, From Ecuador, Colombia, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, And Thailand Contribute Expertise And Support To Enhance The Impact Of The Sdgnn'S Research. Central To This Collaborative Network Is The Justus Liebig University Giessen (Jlu) And Its Centre For International Development And Environmental Research (Zeu) That Takes The Lead Role. The Zeu Has Conducted International Research, Consulting And Teaching Activities At The Intersection Of Natural And Social Sciences For Almost 30 Years. Collaborating Partners Include The Centre For Marine Science (Cemarin) And The German-Colombian Peace Institute (Capaz), Two Daad Centres Of Excellence Established By Jlu. The Sdgnn Will Continue Its Long-Term, Equally Important And Interlinked Objectives (Figure 1), To (1) Develop A Joint Research Framework, (2) Establish Collaborative Networking Activities, And (3) Train And Promote Young Professionals, I.E., The Agents Of Change.
