Valoracion de la arquitectura vernacula de Azuay y Canar

Recent research in the field of vernacular architecture has revealed its importance from multiple dimensions: economic, social, environmental and cultural. In this regard, the strong presence of ancestral knowledge that easily in examples of constructive simplicity, maximum use of local materials and integration into the surrounding landscape. This cultural legacy, complex and dynamic, it requires a deep understanding to modify its conservation and use as source of innovation The study aims to make visible the legacy value of past generations expressed in vernacular architecture in such a way that, to inspire architecture professionals, teachers, masons, students and the general population in the construction of alternatives contemporary constructive respectful of the context in which they are inserted and at the same time guarantee the conservation of some examples of vernacular architecture of the past. The research part of the analysis of the graphic record of the vernacular architecture of the provinces of Azuay and Cañar del Ecuador, made by hand using pen technique in the decade seventy The graphic expression achieved allows to distinguish in addition to the different techniques constructive, the way of inhabiting the occupants and their relationship with the environment in which they place. The interpretation made by the authors is based on professional knowledge acquired and review of local and international literature. As a result of this work, we identified a network of cultural values ​​of vernacular architecture, which are related each other through attributes such as morphology, use and function, location, techniques constructions and use of local materials. The study reveals a complex vernacular architecture of utilitarian, aesthetic character, but at the same time loaded with meanings that account for ways private individuals
