Abstract
The city of Cuenca, located in the southern part of Ecuador, has a Historic Center, where its history and development. Much of this site has an important Cultural Heritage, with a total of 33.78% of heritage buildings of which 20% of structures built with
land, with different construction systems such as adobe, bahareque, and traditional materials such as straw, tile, wood, stone and others. However, this heritage has undergone major transformations and risk, result, among other factors, the growth of the city, new visions of development, inadequate problems, lack of control, resource leaks, lack of policies, lack of maintenance, etc. . ., which has contributed to the loss of its significance. The objectives of this article are: to identify good practices for the maintenance of heritage built on land within the Latin American context; identify the problems of these experiences and their relationship with the context Cuenca, Ecuador; identify the strategies and actions identified by the projects for the recovery and maintenance of heritage on land; identify positive challenges
multidimensional good practices; analyze the applicability of Latin American experiences adapted to the context of Cuenca, obtaining as a result some guidelines and strategies for the conservation and recovery of heritage sites and architecture on land in the historic center of Cuenca.
