Abstract
Abstract
Orthodontic treatments in recent years have demanded alternatives that could make them
shorter and less painful, studies have evaluated that laser can be used satisfactorily in
this specialty. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the scientific evidence
available to support the application of low-level laser therapy to accelerate tooth movement
during orthodontic treatment. 35 articles related to the proposed topic were identified. Of
which, 10 articles were excluded because they did not meet the parameters requested in
relation to the subject. 25 full articles were selected for review and qualitative analysis.
It can be concluded that the application of low intensity laser could become effective in
accelerating dental movement during orthodontic treatment, however, more available evidence
is still required in order to establish a fixed protocol.
