¿Nombrar es existir? Política pública en torno a la denominación de calles en Cuenca (Ecuador)

Abstract

The role played by the Autonomous Decentralized Government of Cuenca, Ecuador, in the nomenclatureand designation of street names necessitates a comprehensive and systematic analysis. This article, afterconducting a historical and information design study,shifts its focus to evaluating public policies that ensu-re meaningful citizen engagement during their development and implementation. This study underscoresthe evolving dynamics that have emerged since the implementation of ordinances and commissions pertai-ning to the naming of public spaces in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. It examines the agreements, controver-sies, and the circumstances that have arisen through these mechanisms with the goal of promoting morethoughtful and active citizen participation.
