Abstract
Light pollution is a relatively recent concept that has awakened the interest of scientists and regulators worldwide. The main objective of this paper is to present a methodology enabling the analysis of light pollution caused by street lighting, and to test it on the lightingsystem ofCuenca city (Ecuador). To achieve this objective a field research was conducted using the Sky Quality Meter (SQM-LU-DL). Measurements enabled the development of a zonal map of light pollutionand the delineation of a light pollution scale. Given the different conditions under which the measurements were conducted, it si most likely that the map and the scale ought to be refined in future studies.
