Abstract
The growing interest in sustainable energy has driven significant innovation in energy production, with water electrolysis standing out as a promising technology for carbon-free hydrogen production from renewable sources. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of recent and highly cited research on hydrogen electrolyzers using the Web of Science database. The main objective is to identify current trends and potential future applications in this dynamically evolving field. This analysis will leverage case studies from global scientific literature, enabling a comprehensive assessment of the current state-of-the-art in terms of electrolyzer technologies, operational models, key challenges facing the industry, highlighted themes, and future research directions. Given the continually expanding market for renewable energy and the increasing investment in research and development, it is crucial to have an up-to-date review of this rapidly advancing field. Understanding the latest trends and advancements in hydrogen electrolyzers is essential for guiding future research and facilitating the effective implementation of sustainable technologies. Furthermore, this bibliometric review will provide valuable insights into emerging applications and potential challenges to overcome in the production and utilization of hydrogen as a clean energy source.
