Abstract
The objective of the research is to determine the effects caused by the construction of the Millennium Educational Units (EMUs) on the dynamics of mobility and accessibility of the population and land use. The research was carried out through case studies with a mixed methodology. To determine the effects on mobility, a semi-structured survey was applied to users, while changes in land use were analyzed with the support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through supervised classification. The main findings in terms of mobility show that, although the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) defined a coverage area, users come from both within and beyond the planned sectors. Regarding accessibility, and taking public transportation as a reference, more than 78% of users at the educational centers commute using this means of transport. Finally, changes in land use related to the coverage area do not exceed 20%, and urban land uses do not show significant variations.
