Abstract

The earth is one of the oldest and most widely used building materials worldwide. The research is relevant in Ecuador since in its temperate region it possesses five predominant vernacular techniques: adobe, bahareque or quincha, stone, wood and tapial, and the possibility of being able to combine several of these techniques in a single building. The establishment of physical and mechanical parameters of materials from the Austro of Ecuador, provide a tool in the structural field, allowing the designer to have data for basic calculations or advanced modeling with software and analysis of structures with linear and nonlinear procedures, resembling reality the behavior of buildings.
