Abstract

Within the current cities the number of vehicles has shown a increase, giving rise in increase traffic, caused that the number of traffic accidents also increase. This is where the role of VANET networks can intervene with the goal of reducing and trying to avoid this type of accidents. A VANET network provides connection between a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) or a hybrid combination between these two, allowing a wide variety of safety, traffic management and assistance applications with safety precautions for drivers. With the increase of VANETS and its large number of applications, in this work is proposed to send warning messages to vehicles that are near intersections or circulate on a road using a Raspberry Pi development platform, websockets that is based on Node.js together with the Socket.io library in order to avoid collisions between vehicles, reduce traffic and warn drivers about the traffic signs that are to come.
