Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has made a significant impact in the field of orthodontics, promising to revolutionize treatments through more accurate diagnoses, personalized planning, and automated follow-up. This paper explores the contrast between the expectations generated by technological innovations and the current reality of their clinical application. It analyzes advances in dental movement prediction software, AI-assisted aligner treatment planning algorithms, and cephalometric analysis tools. In addition, it discusses current limitations such as the dependence on large data volumes, the need for professional supervision, and access gaps in resource-limited settings. While AI has proven to be a promising resource, its effective implementation still faces technical, ethical, and economic challenges. The study concludes that the successful integration of AI in orthodontics requires ongoing collaboration between healthcare professionals and technology developers, as well as a realistic understanding of its current capabilities.
