World Heritage City Preservation Management Phase I

Does the World Heritage City Preservation Management project since 2007 has carried out a deep research process in various aspects related to the management and preservation of Cuenca, World Heritage City. Its fundamental objective is to develop tools for the good management of the heritage site and its work strategy, for the validation of tools determined the opening of a second study territory in the rural world such as the Susudel community. Through a documentation process, collection of data and information, existing inventories were studied in the city, a close approach to the issues related to heritage technology was developed and the concept of preventive conservation was progressively built, which implies monitoring and maintenance, in order to prevent buildings from deteriorating in a timely manner. The project has structured a Master in Heritage Management that is underway, and in its second phase, gives continuity to the work in preventive conservation in Cuenca and Susudel, incorporating two new lines of research: the urban historical landscape and the heritage as a development resource. The lines of research indicated already have important results with doctorates and masters fulfilled and underway.
