Description
Brucellosis is a disease caused by several species of the Brucella genus that affects most animal species including bovines causing economic losses to livestock and meat, cattle are mainly affected by B. Abortus causing abortion, infertility, placental retention, decrease in dairy production in females, in males it causes orchitis and infertility. Most of Brucella's species affect the human for what has an impact on public health, being the most risky to contract this personal laboratory disease, veterinarians, workers of Camales, workers' workers generating nonspecific symptoms to serious joint problems. The control of the disease is performed by serologically monitoring the animals semi -annually, eliminating the seropositive and by vaccination of calves between 3 to 6 months of age. In the northern part of the country, circulating strains have been typified, but in the southern region it is unknown that Brucella species would be present in the cattle herds and their phylogenetic relationship with that of other regions of Ecuador. Hence, this work aims to establish the prevalence of brucellosis in the farms under study and typify the species of the Brucella genus in samples of peripheral milk and blood of seropositive cattle, of dairy cattle ranches in the province of Azuay. For this, it will work in 21 livestock that are within the Brucellosis control and eradication program, a pink sprinkler (RB) serological test will be performed to all females older animals over 18 months and subsequently apply a confirmatory test through Elisa Competitive (ELISA-C). A sample of peripheral milk and blood will be extracted from all seropositive confirmed animals to brucellosis to extract DNA by conventional PCR for subsequent typification of the species with the multiplex PCR technique. These isolated Brucella strains will be sequenced, in specialized laboratories to determine their phylogeny with other strains.
