Computer systems as tools for the construction of basic qualitative and quantitative indicators for the evaluation of sustainable human development

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

National statistics lose representativeness at the local level, since the aggregation of the data causes them to lose characteristics of each population group. The need to build qualitative and quantitative information from the data is born from the existing limitations with the national statistics that have the following characteristics: they are very useful for the design of national social policies, to know the positioning of the country in the international concert and local diagnoses; They look at the population as a fact; They are general and vertical; They are not very representative for subnational areas: small territorial units such as parishes and communities. In addition, you have qualitative and quantitative information separately giving a partial vision of reality. Given the continuous demand for information and indicators for the elaboration, monitoring and evaluation, as well as for the formulation and evaluation of local and regional development plans, programs and policies, the present project seeks to constitute a methodology that directs computer systems as tools that allow to enter, process and georeferential indicators both qualitative and quantitative useful for local planning.
