Description
The need to generate knowledge related to the management of tourism activity is a simultaneous phenomenon worldwide. This knowledge becomes a key element for the development of a tourist destination and especially for planning and management that allows an advance towards sustainability. In the field of tourism tools have emerged, such as tourist intelligence, which allow the processing, analysis and transformation of information to knowledge for sustainable and responsible tourism management by decision making. This proposal aims to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of a tourist intelligence system implemented in 2019 by the Tourist Analysis and Innovation Laboratory (Lainntur) of the University of Jaén (Spain) and the possibility of applying it based on the reality and needs of the territory, through a relevant investigation and the creation of knowledge that allows to move towards the sustainability of the tourist activity in the city of Cuenca (Ecuador). This will allow strengthening the capacities of tourist actors and will facilitate tools to design, apply and evaluate tourism activity based on a sustainable and responsible integral model focused on efficient information management and a participation of all its actors. This proposal aims to lay the basis for, in the first place, to develop and apply a set of methodologies that allow a diagnosis oriented to the generation of knowledge to move towards sustainability, as well as the formation of a strategic agenda for the construction of the SIT together with the team of the University of Cuenca and the Laboratory of Tourist Analysis and Innovation (Lainntur) of the University of Jaén (Spain).
