System of multidimensional indicators of socioeconomic development (Simdes)

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This project aims to build two games of multidimensional indicators organized in a single system: first, based on the economic situation and the derived debate about the validity of traditional indicators such as GDP per capita as measures of the general welfare of the population intends to develop, in the light of the latest theoretical advances and in measurement, an alternative system of indicators that fits more precisely and more accurately to Ecuadorian reality. For this, the work of Stiglitz, Sen and Fitoussi (2009) is used as input, in which a multidimensional methodology is proposed that seeks to measure more efficiently the level of development at the sub -national level. Second, following the importance of the State as a provider of services of general interest, it is intended to establish a group of effectiveness indicators in the provision of said services in the different regional ones.
