Project Details
Description
This project aims to strengthen and continue the Research Line of Urban Historical Landscape of the VLIRCPM Project. So far, the different studies that have approached the city of Cuenca from the field of heritage have always done so from an objective view, focusing solely on real estate. With this project, a study by the city of Cuenca is launched in a holistic way, which addresses the identification of its patrimonial values from the urban point of view, taking into account the linking of the city with the territory, and attributing to the citizen an authentic prominence. This new look at the heritage is based on the recent urban historical landscape figure, the last patrimonial category defined by UNESCO in 2011 (recommendations, 2011). The methodological proposal on which this project is supported is structured based on a series of studies, which from various disciplines seeks to know the state of conservation of the city's cultural heritage. This research addresses heritage from the perspective of architecture, anthropology, sociology, economy, environment, landscape, history and urbanism. The diagnosis obtained as a result of the first analytical phase allows to evaluate the maintenance or not of the cultural values that in their day justified the incorporation of basin as a world heritage city in the UNESCO list, in addition to identifying other heritage values that also reinforce the idiosyncrasy of the city itself.
