Biochemical and hematological tests in athletes of the Azuay and Cañar Sports Federation. Cuenca-2016

Sports medicine is a clinical specialty that fundamentally studies the biochemistry and physiology of exercise in athletes. Within its objectives is to guarantee their health by diagnosing situations that limit their training and determine their functional capabilities to plan a training process, in this way it is possible to prevent affectations and optimize high competition sports performance. A moderate and optimal exercise is beneficial to health, but the envelope causes alteration in mental health, physical condition, hematopoietic system, musculoskeletal, immune and others. The most used laboratory tests for the athlete's assessment are biochemical and hematological blood tests. In a conventional blood analysis, it will be reported if the body is responding correctly to training, emphasizing the importance of the control and interpretation of each parameter and its contribution in the integral assessment of the athlete's health. The study to be carried out is descriptive of transverse type in young population from 14 to 18 years of the Azuay and Cañar Sports Federation, selected through stratification by sex and sports discipline. The methodology to follow includes, socialization of the project to the selected athletes, signature of the informed consent and assent, application of a data collection form, taking the blood sample, processing of them in the laboratory of the Diagnostic Center and Biomedical Research of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cuenca, all these procedures will be carried out by students and graduates of the Clinical Laboratory career of the Medical Technology School. The results obtained will be delivered to the athletes and the Medical Department of the Azuay and Cañar Sports Federation, they will contribute to the evaluation of the state of health, they will also help for the accreditation of the clinical laboratory career, as a program of research and link with society.
