Project Details
Description
The project proposes to implement a model of popular and solidarity economy (EPS) in Azuay, aimed at strengthening territorial sustainability through inclusive and ecological economic practices. Despite the rich associative and cooperative tradition, Azuay lacks specific local regulations that define and support the EPS, which creates uncertainty among the population. This normative vacuum impacts sectors such as agricultural, crucial for the local economy but affected by problems in marketing and access to credit. Based on theories of solidarity, cooperation, sustainability, and the Ecuadorian legal framework, the project seeks to develop an EPS model adapted to Azuay that promotes local employment, improve family income, strengthen the social fabric, include vulnerable groups, and preserve the environment. The methodology will include quantitative, qualitative, and participatory analysis, involving all sectors of society in the creation of a sustainable and fair model. Events are planned for the construction of the model, publications, sectoral diagnoses, training in alternative economies, and public policy proposals to integrate EPS into territorial planning. The expected results include community strengthening, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship development, and integration of EPS in public policies. It will benefit local communities, small producers, women, youth, government entities, and the environment, contributing to a more equitable and sustainable society in Azuay.
