Project Details

Description

Background: The delay of development in children causes problems in carrying out the activities of daily life, limits learning, coexistence. The delay to classify them clinically for a timely intervention and improvement of the quality of life should be detected and confirmed. Objective: This Prospective Transversal Descriptive Study Multicentric Study aims to determine the prevalence of development delay, muscle dystrophy of Duchenne (DMD), innate errors of the synthesis of neurotrastylers (EINT) and palatine fissure in children from 0 to 8 years of age in the urban area of Cuenca. Methodology: The study will be carried out in four scenarios: at the extramural level I of the community area of regular schools and specialized education, by active search in the Huayna Cápac parish, and at level II at the Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital. Although they have similar objectives, due to the type of population and place, different methodologies are used. The demographic variables to study will be: age, sex, habitual residence, nationality, ethnicity, assistance to therapies. Children will be detected with possible development delay to confirm in them the delay. Children with development delay will be evaluated to classify them as children with delay in hearing loss, autistic spectrum disorder, Mimic cerebral palsy by EINT, DMD. For the detection and confirmation of each of the entities to be identified, validated tests will be used. For the diagnosis of DMD and PC Mimic by Eint, biological samples will be taken for the detection of the genes responsible for the entities. Bioethics will be respected with the signature of informed consent. Univariate analysis will be performed with frequencies, percentages in qualitative variables; In quantitative variables measures of central tendency and distribution. Expected results: the determination of the epidemiological and clinical profile of development delays.
