Description

Objective: Determine the prevalence of skeletal muscle pain and rheumatic diseases: hand and knee osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, drop and lower back using Copcord questionnaire, in people over 20 years. Cuenca, Ecuador, 2013. Material and methods: Population: 20 -year -old people residing in the urban parishes of the city of Cuenca. Sample size: 4,500 people. The calculation of the sample was chosen to achieve a 95%confidence interval, in the estimation of the prevalence of the AR of 0.5 to 1%, the prevalence sample in Epinfo was calculated, the data analysis will be presented the global information and the Global Information will be presented and by groups the frequency tables will be prepared. In the selection of subjects a random and stratified sample of participants over 20 years will be generated. Stratification will be done by age and sex. The interview will be conducted in the selected subjects and once the reason for the study is carefully explained and that they accept to express their written approval in the informed consent sheet. This questionnaire identifies individuals with rheumatic symptoms through an interview with trained polls. Includes questions related to symptoms pain and rigidity, invalids, treatment and adaptation to the problem. In the statistical analysis for the comparison of groups, the X2, T of Student or Mann-Whitney tests will be used, depending on the type of variable, it will be accepted as a significant difference if the bilateral P is less than 0.05. The SPSS statistical package will be used for data processing. Results: At the end of the study, the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain, knee osteoarthritis and hands, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, lumbago and gout will be established. With the information obtained, the intervention will proceed from the point of view of the training to the affected groups.
