OBJECTIVE To determine the prevalence of functional limitation and associated factors in older adults of the operational units of the community internship cycle in the provinces of Azuay, Cañar, and Morona Santiago, of zone 6. Method a transversal study will be carried out with data collected by means of previously validated and adapted forms that are part of the standards and protocols for the Attention to the Elderly Adult of the MSP and others that have been applied in several countries; The students of the Community Cycle of the Medicine Cycle of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca will participate in the 30 Operating Units of the MSP and the IESS, in the provinces of Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago. The medical records, documents and publications will also be analyzed. The analysis of demographic, family and socio -economic characteristics will be carried out through frequencies and percentages, and to determine the association of functional limitation with chronic diseases (diabetes, arterial hypertension, cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ischemic heart disease, vascular brain disease, osteoarthritis, depression, cognitive deterioration and malnutrition), we will use the ODDS ratio and its 95% confidence interval through the EPI Info Program version 7.
