Description

Children and adolescents with disabilities constitute a vulnerable group that require more attention in oral hygiene due to their obvious limitations, affecting the health of their stomatognathic system in relation to healthy children and adolescents. It is a descriptive study of interdisciplinary cross -section in 169 schoolchildren between 3 and 20 years with mental retardation, Down and Autismo syndrome, which attend the "Agustín Cueva Tamariz Special Institute." It aims to determine the prevalence of tooth decay and periodontal disease according to the type of disability. We will begin with a survey of the representatives of the schoolchildren to know the medical background, then through the oral exam the periodontal indices, of tooth decay and early injuries, innovative criteria of our proposal will be recorded.
