Description
Mobility is a fundamental pillar for urban development, which facilitates access to essential services and economic dynamization. In Ecuador, the absence of precise and updated data on mobility represents a significant obstacle for making informed and effective decision making. In response, this research project aims to develop a comprehensive data model based on mobility statistics that facilitate standardized collection and analysis of information. Through a mixed methodology that combines quantitative and participatory approaches, a set of international metrics will be adapted to local reality, which will be visualized on an interactive data and maps platform that will offer clear and understandable information for both authorities and citizens. In its initial phase, the project will focus on Cuenca, the largest intermediate city in the country; However, it aspires to expand nationwide. It is expected to obtain key information as a result, to improve the planning, control and evaluation processes of mobility, which support the implementation of public policies aimed at reducing traffic accidents, improving equity in access to sustainable transport, mitigating environmental impacts and optimizing economic resources. This project will transform mobility into a basin and, throughout the country, towards a more effective and adaptable mobility model to urban dynamics, contributing decisively to the construction of more resilient and sustainable cities.
