Description

One of the main characteristics in the territorial history of Ecuador, in the last 60 years, has been the accelerated urbanization process experienced by society. This urbanization process, in the first place, has been essential for economic progress and has not always generated better living conditions of the population and, secondly, has been the propitious site for the development and deployment of new technologies and the irradiator focus of new cultures. People and their activities transform the cities in many ways; However, lately, the planning action has not been able to fulfill the function of moderator and optimizer of urban stain growth, even less if it is considered how diffuse the limit of cities in reality is almost always. As an alternative to the expansive growth, has it proposed to densify, the existing city through the re-order of large well-located areas, but that are deteriorated, misused or vacancies that allow generating sustainable cities, occupying, saturating and consolidating urban spaces, demonstrating the hypothesis that it is possible to achieve more compact cities, improving the quality of life of its inhabitants and enhancing the capacity of its inhabitants Territory. The idea is to carry out a process that promotes a balanced, demonstrated and sustained urban development, with an assessment process that solvency as a serious and effective proposal. This project aims to be developed in a period of 24 months by a group of researchers related to the field of architecture and urban planning and seeks to have an impact on the urban planning departments of the municipalities of Ecuador.
