AC models for use in the expansion of intelligent transmission electrical networks

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The complexity of future intelligent electrical networks, product of the increase in renewable energy and other equipment such as FACTS devices and HVDC transmission links, makes it necessary to have more exact formulations to solve the problem of optimal expansion of the transmission network. This project aims to implement formulations to solve the optimal planning problem of the expansion of intelligent transmission networks (PET) based on the AC model and in metheuristic optimization techniques and convex programming. The metheuristic techniques that are intended to be implemented are based on evolutionary programming and bio-geography. To improve the performance of metheuristic techniques, a method to create a set of initial solutions that can improve the performance of such techniques will also be implemented. On the other hand, an exact mathematical model based on second -order convex optimization and semi -definite programming will be carried out for the solution of the PET problem, through the convexification of the balance and reactive powers balance equations.
