Methodology for the calculation of mobility indicators of the Cuenca canton.

From the research project "Identification and analysis of sustainability indicators for transport: the case of the rural area of the Cuenca Canton" Winner of the XIII DIUC research project contest, in which a system of indicators that allowed to know the characteristics of rural mobility was identified and calculated; The need to generate a methodological guide that unifies the treatment of information for the calculation of the indicators has emerged, because in the process they found a series of difficulties derived mainly from the variety of criteria and sources of information used in the procedure, which generated conflicts of interpretation and application. This new planning instrument is developed based on bibliographic review in international contexts due to the lack of related studies at the local level, for which it is considered the diversity of economic, social and cultural realities existing between countries, as well as the limitations and potentialities presented by Ecuadorian reality in terms of data availability. Thus constituting an action tool for the agencies responsible for the mobility and transport of the different levels of government of Ecuador.
