Description
The results of both national and international evidence reveal that the school performance of Ecuadorian children is low. Several authors have associated this phenomenon with personal variables such as intelligence, working memory, attention, self -control or anxiety. The objective of the present study is to improve the school performance of fourth year children of basic education in the city of Cuenca, through (a) identification of the degree of relationship between personal variables and academic performance of the participants and (b) Implementation of a pilot school intervention program that aims to stimulate personal type variables in order to help improve low school performance. The study consists of two phases, in the first phase, personal variables (intelligence, working memory, care, self -control or anxiety) will be evaluated to a representative sample of 450 students, through a test battery. In the second phase an intervention program will be applied in a "experimental" group aimed at improving the personal type variable that most correlates with school performance.
