Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The research-vinculation project "Materialities, Education and Public: Uses and meanings of archaeological heritage in the SERGSIG" has as its space for analysis and intervention the Canton Sígsig (Azuay), considering the study of cases of three parishes: Sígsig, Jima and Güel, jurisdictions that have a diversity of archaeological vestiges that are part of the tangible and intangible heritage of our region. Austro's historical background denote a prehistoric occupation of great significance, represented by cultural remains such as ceramics, lithic, shells. However, this archaeological wealth is constantly alteration and risk of destruction following the construction of housing, roads or for agricultural and mining activities. Archeology at the regional level has little social insertion, which causes ignorance and little interest in archaeological heritage, because three axes are not articulated: education, cultural policy and dissemination of knowledge. In this sense, the proposal seeks to reposition a different, contemporary and interdisciplinary form of archeology, with the aim of knowing and disseminating the archaeological heritage of Sígsig, through the recognition of the current state of the sites; Analysis of school texts and educational regulations, to reflect the situation of heritage in the curriculum; I work with government institutions and social actors, to determine the relevance of policy in heritage. That is, a link between politics-educational-transmission of archaeological heritage will be generated, which will be specified based on workshops, didactic and informative material for the education sector and the general population.
