GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Develop, implement and evaluate an integral management model of epilepsy from the Primary Health Care Services in the province of Azuay as a gateway to the National Health System. Specific Objectvas: 1. Implement and evaluate a community intervention program through education campaigns to modify knowledge, attitudes and practices in relation to the bio-psycho-social problems of epilepsy. 2. Establish the weight (magnitude, transcendence and vulnerability) of epilepsy in the community: prevalence, incidence, cost -benefit, quality of life, comorbidity, and daly -Discapacity adjusted by years of life. 3. Validate and evaluate a procedure manual to establish the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of epilepsy in health care services. 4. Determine and quantify the risk factors and forecast factors of epilepsy in the population studied according to: socio-economic level, age, sex, genetic factors, family history of epilepsy, comorbidity, etiology, disease duration, type of treatment and type of epileptic crisis. 5. Evaluate the operation of the Primary Health Care System in the integral management of the population with epilepsy. 6. Formulate a sustainability plan for the integral management of epilepsy from primary health services as part of the Ministry of Health of Ecuador.
